About GovTools

GovTools is three calculators — Dearness Allowance, in-hand salary, and government-job age eligibility — built for Indian central government employees and job aspirants. It's one person's side project, not a government service and not affiliated with any ministry, department, or exam board.

The reason it exists: the existing calculator sites in this space are frequently wrong or out of date. During research for this project, several well-known DA calculators showed contradictory rates on the same page, one displayed a rate over a year stale, and none of the age-eligibility calculators tested handled stacked reservation categories (like PwD + OBC) correctly. GovTools tries to do better on exactly that — correctness, not more features.

How figures are kept accurate

Every number traces to an actual government order, gazette notification, or exam circular — never to another calculator site. Where a figure couldn't be independently confirmed against the primary document, it's marked as such rather than presented with false confidence. The full source list, with citations and verification dates, is on the Sources page.

What this site is not

It's not an official government resource, and a result here doesn't override your department's own circular or an exam's official notification. It doesn't collect accounts, doesn't store what you type into a calculator (everything runs in your browser), and doesn't currently cover every exam or every allowance — new coverage is added exam-by-exam and allowance-by-allowance, only once its data has actually been verified. See the Privacy Policy for specifics on data handling.

Feedback

If you find a figure that's wrong, or a real government order this site is missing, that's exactly the kind of thing worth fixing — the project's whole premise depends on getting it right.
